In late September, Wanrun New Energy announced its plan to invest in the "Wanrun New Energy US New Energy Cathode Materials and Industrial R&D Center Project." The project involves building a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) production facility in South Carolina with an planned annual capacity of 50,000 tons. The first phase aims to achieve an output of 9,000 tons per year.
The project is expected to be fully operational by 2028, with a total investment of approximately $167.64 million (about RMB 1.186 billion). Wanrun New Energy stated that as the project advances, production capacity will be gradually expanded in response to overseas market demand. The initiative is intended to increase the company's international market share and expand its customer base and business channels.
Two months earlier, in July, EVE Energy's joint venture in the U.S. launched the ACT battery project in Mississippi. The project plans to produce approximately 21GWh of prismatic lithium iron phosphate batteries annually, with shipments expected to begin in 2026. Major customers will include Daimler Trucks, among others.
